Mom watches son being beaten by teacher via CCTV footage

A Chinese mother has had to watch her son being savagely slapped by his kindergarten teacher while viewing live surveillance footage from the child's classroom on her phone.

The five-year-old boy was said to be punished by the educator after failing to fall asleep during naptime.

The teacher has been suspended from her position, according to management of the kindergarten in the city of Shenyang.

The shocking scene was captured by a classroom monitor in Aitong Kindergarten in the city's Tiexi District on October 23, according to a post by an influential local affairs blogger 'Shenyang Big Small Matters' on Weibo.

The devastated mother, who remains unidentified, said she was at home watching live-streaming footage from her son's class when she saw the teacher's abusive act.

'His arms and head all got beaten and slapped,' she said.

Footage released by the mother shows a female teacher sitting on a stool next to several pupils who are sleeping on the floor.

A boy lying under a duvet right next to the teacher tries to get up at one point, and the teacher immediately gives him a heavy slap on the head.

Another clip shows a teacher forcefully pulling a boy's jumper off him while both are standing in a classroom.

The furious parent claimed that she discovered a swelling on her son's head that day, but when she tried to query her son about the injury, the boy appeared extremely scared and refused to talk.

The mother enrolled the boy into the private day care centre two years ago, and this is the first time the child has been punished so severely.

She said the kindergarten declined to provide her an explanation, and only said that the teacher had been suspended from her job.

A spokesperson from the kindergarten denied allegations of child abuse. She claimed that the pupil had failed to follow the teacher's order, leading the teacher to 'over-react'.

The faculty member was being investigated by local education authorities, the kindergarten said.
