Beijing to add virus offenses to list of uncivilized behavior"

Following the experience of going through the coronavirus epidemic, Beijing is looking to add to its list of uncivilized behaviors.
Draft regulations promoting civilized behavior among the public have been submitted to the Beijing legislature for deliberation. The new guidelines primarily focus on what one should and should not do during a virus outbreak.
Examples of these types of uncivilized behaviors include:
  • Not wearing a mask when you are infected with the flu or other infectious respiratory diseases
  • Not covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing in public
  • Not honestly reporting your condition if you are infected with an infectious illness and not following proper protocol including tests and quarantine
  • Not using separate chopsticks and spoons while sharing dishes and not eating from separate plates
  • Abusing, consuming, or trafficking in wildlife

The proposal also mentions other behaviors not linked to the outbreak but still considered uncourteous:
  • Throwing objects from high-rise buildings
  • Driving on the wrong side of the road
  • Running red lights while making takeaway deliveries.

Those who fail to adhere to these guidelines will be educated and punished, though what the punishments will be arent clear.
Previous examples of uncivilized behaviors discouraged by the Beijing government include loud square dancing and wearing a Beijing bikini.
