China reports zero new domestic coronavirus cases for first time

In a major milestone in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, China has reported no new domestic infections for the first time.
Thats zero new confirmed cases in Wuhan and across the entire Hubei province, the former epicenters of the Covid-19 virus which saw thousands of infections reported each day just a month ago.
New cases have dropped all the way down to single digits throughout the past week in Hubei, validating the drastic actions China took in late January to put the province on lockdown.
In total, China has reported 81,262 cases since the outbreak began, 67,800 of those in Hubei and 50,005 in Wuhan.

Meanwhile, the global number of infections has gone on to exceed Chinas tally and the Chinese government has switched its focus over to attempting to contain the threat of infections imported from overseas.
While China reported zero domestic transmissions of the virus on Thursday morning, it did acknowledge 34 new imported cases.
