Elderly woman boots man off Melbourne tram to rest feet on seat

A young Chinese man claims he was kicked off his tram seat by an elderly woman who wanted to put her feet up.

The commuter was on a tram in Melbourne on Wednesday when the older woman reportedly approached him and told him to move.

The pair briefly argued over the seat before the male passenger gave in and decided to move.

He was stunned when he saw the woman sitting with her feet up on the seat in front of her and snapped a picture of the incident which he later shared online.

'This lady specifically told me - an apparent 'Chinese young man' to get off my seat so she can do this,' he wrote on Reddit.

'I told her I needed the seat too. She then decides to repeat her words just decibels louder each time. I had to yield.'

When others questioned why he didn't fight harder for the seat, he said he didn't want to make the situation worse.

'Why did you get up?' one person asked.

'Did someone force you or was her words enough to move your body? Don't complain because the only person who moved you out of your seat is you.

'Learn to say No. Even to old people.'

'I'd say shutting down someone entitled and standing up for yourself (or sitting down in this case) is one of those situations,' wrote another.

'I'd say not to reward her shitty behavior but I'm guessing you did what you thought was right given the circumstances. Did you get a recording?' another asked.
