Serbian president kisses Chinese flag

The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a lovefest breaking out between Serbia and China with the Serbian president recently planting a kiss upon the Chinese flag.
When a plane full of Chinese medics and medical supplies arrived at the airport in Serbia on Saturday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was on hand to greet them.
In video that has gone viral on Chinese social media, Vucic bumps elbows with the arriving medics before going over to kiss both the Serbian and Chinese flags in front of the plane.
The arrival of Chinese health professionals is of great importance to us because they were the first to defeat the great enemy of today: COVID-19, Vucic declared.
Everything on this plane is free-of-charge assistance, a donation from the Peoples Republic of China. We should thank them with all our hearts, they have proven to be great friends of Serbia and Serbs, he added.

Amid the global Covid-19 pandemic, a considerable portion of Chinese netizens attention has turned towards Serbia, a country that has set itself up as one of Chinas best friends in Europe.
At the behest of net users, the Serbian embassy even created its own Weibo account last week to take in donations for the countrys fight against the coronavirus.
The account now has more than a million followers. It has reminded netizens that a visa is not required for Chinese visitors to Serbia.
We will never forget Chinese kindness! reads one post.

Meanwhile, few world leaders have been so enthusiastically pro-China as Vucic.
Last year, he hailed China as the most honest and trustworthy friend of Serbia at a concert celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China.
While declaring a state of emergency last week, he proclaimed that European solidarity was a fairytale and that China is the only one that can help his country.
Today, I sent a special letter. Because we expect a lot and have the highest hopes in the only one who can help us in this difficult situation and that is China, he said with tears in his eyes.
Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has also expressed his gratitude with a Weibo post.
A big thank you to all the countries that helped each other in these difficult times. China has suffered a lot in its own fight against the virus, and yet it is still selflessly sending medical experts and equipment to Serbia, which means a lot to us, he wrote.
Xie Xie. W i i zhnggu, he added in pinyin, meaning, Thank you. I love you, China.

At this time, Serbia has reported 301 cases of the coronavirus with 54 new cases being reported on Tuesday.
