60 new Covid-19 cases on single flight from Russia to Shanghai

The number of imported coronavirus cases in Shanghai took a massive leap over the weekend with the arrival of a plane from Russia.

One flight, 60 cases

A total of 60 Chinese nationals who were on the Aeroflot flight from Moscow on Friday have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, Shanghai health officials announced on Monday.
Dozens of others who were on the flight are now under strict observation and quarantine.
The flight accounts for a not-insignificant portion of Shanghais total tally of 279 imported coronavirus cases up to this point.
By the way, Shanghais number of imported cases is quickly catching up to its total number of domestic infections since the start of the outbreak, which stands at only 339.

Is Russia in serious trouble?

Meanwhile, mainland China reported its highest number of new coronavirus infections in more than a month on Sunday, mostly thanks to Chinese nationals returning from Russia.
In addition to the flight that landed in Shanghai, two important border cities in northern China have been slammed with arriving coronavirus cases.
One of them is turning into a mini-Wuhan  closing off its border, suspending train services, and telling residents to stay home.
All of this certainly doesnt appear to bode well for Russia, which has just reported a record-high number of new daily cases at 2,558, bringing its nationwide tally up to 18,328.
