Global coronavirus cases rise above 1 million


China now only accounts for a relatively small fraction of the worlds total number of reported coronavirus cases and deaths.
The number of global Covid-19 infections surpassed 1 million on Friday, doubling over the past week.
Much of this increase comes from the United States, however, outbreaks continue to plague many countries in Europe.
Heres the current top 10:
  1. United States: 245,000
  2. Spain: 117,000
  3. Italy: 115,000
  4. Germany: 85,000
  5. China: 83,000
  6. France: 59,000
  7. Iran: 53,000
  8. United Kingdom: 33,000
  9. Switzerland: 19,000
  10. Turkey: 18,000

Meanwhile, the death toll has passed 50,000 with Italy and Spain hardest hit but the US moving up the list fast:
  1. Italy: 13,900
  2. Spain: 11,000
  3. United States: 6,000
  4. France: 5,300
  5. China: 3,300
  6. Iran: 3,300
  7. United Kingdom: 2,900
  8. Netherlands: 1,300
  9. Belgium: 1,100
  10. Germany: 1,100

The United States has estimated that its death toll may reach 100,000 to 240,000.
