Hunan Reports One 

Imported COVID-19 Case





During the 24 hours of April 1, Hunan reports one new confirmed case of COVID-19 from other country.

As of 24:00 on April 1, a total of 1,019 cumulativeconfirmed cases had been reported in Hunan, 4 people had died, and 1,014 patients had been discharged from hospitals.

During the 24 hour of April 1, no new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were reported in Hunan. There was no new cases out of quarantine. Four are under medical observation, all of whom are imported cases.

A total of 27,346 close contacts have been traced, among whom 132 are under medical observation while 27,214 others have been discharged.

The global death toll from COVID-19 increased by 4,193 to 40,598 in the past 24 hours as of 10:00 CET on Wednesday, according to the daily situation report released by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The report showed a total of 823,626 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported as of Wednesday, an increase of 72,736 infections compared to the previous day.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he welcomes China's efforts to provide personal protective equipment to countries and regions combating COVID-19.

WHO:A million COVID-19 cases are expected to be confirmed globally in the next few days


"Over the past five weeks, we have seen an exponential increase in the number of new confirmed cases," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at press conference on April. "The death toll has more than doubled in the past week. And in the next few days, we will see the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 rise to one million and 50,000 deaths."
