Shanghai reports 1 new coronavirus death, 6th of the epidemic

Shanghais official coronavirus death toll now stands at six following the death of a 63-year-old woman.
The citys health authorities said on Wednesday that her condition turned critical after hospitalization and that all efforts to save her life proved futile.
While any death is a tragedy, Shanghais official death toll remains remarkably low considering the citys size, importance, and relative nearness to the original epicenter in Wuhan.
For comparison, Londons death toll is nearing 100, New York City has now passed 1,000, and Madrid is over 2,700.
The White House has projected that 240,000 people may die from the virus in the United States.

Meanwhile, Shanghai reported seven new imported coronavirus cases on Tuesday with infected travelers arriving from the UK, Thailand, Indonesia, Spain, and France.
The city has so far reported 339 local cases and 177 imported cases. Seven patients are still being hospitalized in critical condition.
