Missing wingsuit pilot found dead after going off course

A missing wingsuit flyer has been found dead in the mountains of Zhangjiajie in Hunan province.
The female pilot jumped from a helicopter at an altitude of 2,500 meters over the Tianmenshan scenic area last Tuesday with another wingsuit pilot equipped with a camera.
For reasons unknown, she deviated from the planned route and did not open her parachute.
Video footage from the jump shows her companion waving towards her as she goes off course and becomes a speck in the distance.

The pilot is reported to have completed hundreds of wingsuit flights and skydivers in the past.
Helicopters and drones were dispatched to find where she landed along with firefighters and local villagers. Eventually, it was the villagers that found the body in a thick forest about 900 meters above sea level.
