Wuhan University holds socially-distanced graduation ceremony

Over the weekend, Wuhan University held a small and socially-distanced graduation ceremony that was marked by a commemoration of the lives lost to the Covid-19 pandemic which began in the Hubei capital earlier this year.

The ceremony was attended by 660 representatives while other graduates watched online. Those who couldnt attend will be able to apply to attend any other graduation ceremony within the next three years.

Because of the coronavirus outbreak, most Chinese universities have opted to hold graduation ceremonies with strict limits on attendance. A recent poll found that nearly 89 percent of new graduates in China watched their graduation ceremony online this year.

Some received their diplomas with the help of robots.
