BOOKSHOPS
The most notable book shop in Changsha is the Xinhua store, with the main branch located close to downtown on the junction of Renmin Lu and Furong Lu, about a five minute walk from Furong Square metro station.
It's also a few minutes away from the Wyndham Hotel.
Xinhua is China's most authoritative resource on literature and specialises in factual content. They have a limited English section though but do stock novels. You might also find some up to date city maps. There may be other bookstores nearby that you can check out and browse at your leisure. You should find most big city malls also have a couple of fairly modern, stylish bookshops which are worth checking out.

Sadly, Changsha does not have a full-on English only bookshop and many expats resort to Taobao and other online platforms to satisfy their literary thirst. There are many such websites and asking other foreigners for their recommendations will help.
We have been told that www.bookdepository.com is a great resource.
There is a book group who meet to discuss titles, content and new ideas on favourite books. The group is informal, relaxed and free to join. They currently meet every fortnight although you can add Dillon, the founder of the group, and he'll explain more to you.
